Pavement signs are a form of advertising sign, they can be classed as a pavement sign if normally positioned outside of store fronts or high street shops. A pavement sign will usually have two faces of equal size, both sides being suitable to display leaflets, posters etc.
Some pavement signs have snap shut frames allowing the advertising media to be changed quickly. There are some pavement signs on the market that feature a locking mechanism to secure the media or artwork against vandalism and theft. There are many uses for an pavement signs, although the main benefits always remains the same; to increase sales, walk in traffic, increase product awareness or deliver information. Efficient storage of high quality graphics is achievable on those that feature a protective screen.
one of the most common types of pavement sign is an A-Board. Most A-Boards are actually suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, economy versions aren't normally as robust as their quality counterparts and may wear more quickly when displayed on a pavement, however they serve the same purpose. The first A-Boards were made of wood and although still present today, most are made from powder coated steel tube or aluminium for greater durability in the variable British weather. A big benefit of A-Boards over other pavement signs is that they will fold for easier portability and storage, much appreciated given pavement signs are typically brought indoors overnight. A-boards are much less stable in windy conditions where as pavement signs like the Swinger and Sight Master range are very stable and designed not to blow over.
Most pavement signs are weighted at the base giving them a low center of gravity, meaning that they are more stable in windy positions. The pavement sign with weighted bases can be over 20kgs in weight or more. Because they are heavy some pavement signs have built in wheels to assist movement, positioning this also helps bring them in at the end of a day's trading.
